National-Agriculture MNREGA Committee to present work plan by July

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that to ensure widespread use of MNREGA in agriculture in the country the National Agriculture-MNREGA Committee will present its work plan to the NITI Aayog by the end of July. To give final shape to the work plan, discussions will be held with agriculture experts and various organizations. He directed the officials to present the initial outline of the work plan and held a discussion with senior officials at a high-level meeting as the Chairman of the National Agriculture-MNREGA committee.

The Chief Minister said that Rashtriya NITI Aayog has resolved to double the income of farmers by the year 2022, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. To fulfil this resolve, Madhya Pradesh will also play a significant role. He said that the national committee will give suggestions to the NITI Aayog relating to increasing income from forest areas and expansion of water conservation, rural hat-bazaar and self-help groups.

Those present in the meeting included Chief Secretary Shri B.P. Singh, Commissioner Agriculture Production Shri P.C. Meena, Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Shri Iqbal Singh Bais, Additional Chief Secretary Water Resources Shri R.S. Julaniya, Principal Secretary Agriculture Dr Rajesh Rajoura, Principal Secretary Cooperatives Shri K.C. Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Shri Ashok Vernawal, Shri Vivek Agrawal and Shri Hariranjan Rao.
