Plantation on Catchment area of Narmada and 313 rivers to be undertaken from July 15

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that plantation will be carried out from July 15 to August 15 this year too like previous year on the catchment area of Narmada and other 313 rivers of the state. Work to construct pond in the catchment area of Narmada also will be started shortly, the amount for this has already been approved. Work to construct boundaries will be carried so that water trickles down into Narmada. He further said that I will keep on making efforts to save environment and to encourage plantation without giving attention to criticism. He was addressing the programme of the first anniversary of ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ Seva Yatra at Hoshangabad. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan performed bhoomi poojan of sewerage water treatment plant to be built at a cost of Rs. 10 crore 24 lakh and storm water drain under the Amrit yojana.

Rs. 1377 crore approved for development of Narmada banks.

CM Shri Chouhan stated that Rs. 1377 crore has been approved for development of Narmada banks. Work of sewage plants in 8 urban bodies has been started. He informed that SKP plants will be established in Munhasa of Babai. Construction work of 249 toilets on ghats has been started and 29 thousand 500 toilets have been constructed in rural areas. Work for 20 changing rooms and toilets in 110 villages, located on the banks of Narmada has been commenced. As many as 285 dust bins and vehicles are being given to collect garbage from the ghats. Approval has been given for cluster at Hoshangabad and Dewas to establish solid base. Work in this connection will begin soon. Moreover, 20 Mukti Dhams in urban areas and 14 thousand in rural areas have been constructed. Amount has been sanctioned from the MP’s fund to set up gas based crematorium at Hoshangabad. Bio-Diversity committees have been formed in about 235 gram panchayats.

Moreover, Shri Chouhan said that biogas plants have been approved for 2227 villages. An amount of Rs. 41 crore 40 lakh has been approved for construction of 40 Rain-Baseras (Night Shelters) on right bank and 42 on left bank of Narmada. He stated that 2 thousand 448 solar pumps have been set up on Narmada banks. Efforts have been made for reverse plant to stop flow of polluted water from the industries into Narmada.

68 Liquor shops closed down

CM Shri Chouhan said that 68 liquor shops of areas situated on the banks of Narmada have been shut down. He informed that sand mines of Narmada banks have not been auctioned. Besides electrification work in 130 majra-tolas, 100 poojan kunds and immersion kunds have been constructed. Organic farming is being encouraged. Narmada Seva Committee is working for sanitation of Narmada in 16 districts. He administered pledge to all present on the occasion to continue Narmada Seva Mission.

Shri Chouhan saw the photo gallery focusing riparian zone. He released books ‘Narmada Seva Mission ka Ek Varsh’, E-Book of Shri Umakant Umrao, the divisional commissioner of Narmadapuram division, book written by Prof. Vipin Vyas on biological health of Narmada beside folder based on Narmada Pavitra Sarvada Abhiyan and Narmada portal. He also distributed seeds of 108 varieties of plants to 11 persons.
