Role of Self Help Groups in Women Empowerment is Important: CM

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that role of self help groups is utmost important for women empowerment. He mentioned that women self help groups can bring revolution in the efforts of women empowerment. There is a need to empower them and to strengthen the voluntary efforts of cooperation. CM Chouhan was presiding over the 9th annual general meeting of the Governing Body of Jan ABhiyann parishad today. Minister for Forest, Planning, Economics and Statistics Dr. Gourishankar Shejwar was also present on the occasion.

CM Chouhan emphasized on the need for increasing activeness of Jan Abhiyan Parishad in the efforts being made to strengthen women self help groups. He told to make arrangements for providing medical insurance facility for officers-employees of the parishad like corporations and boards and to give maternity leave to women employees as per the government rules. He laid emphasis on need for increasing activeness of Navankur and Prasfutan committees. CM Chouhan told for developing Narmada Seva Committees in the form of voluntary organizations for environment conservation and for conducting conservation activities.

CM Chouhan was apprised that the convention of Narmada Seva Committees will be organised in December. Activity for the establishment of 300 centers in the first phase of Pradhan Mantri Jan Oshadhi Kendras is in progress. These centers are being established under the MoU signed between Parishad and Bureau of Pharma Public Center of India.

Financial progress of Parishad was reviewed in the meeting. Audit report was also approved. Vice President of Jan Abhiyan Parishad Shri Raghvendra Gautam, Shri Pradeep Pandey, Chief Secretary Shri B.P Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Forest Shri Deepak Khandekar, Principal Secretary to CM Shri Ashok Varnaval and other Officers were present in the meeting
